Smithfield Fire

Smithfield, UTAH -- Shortly before 1130 a.m. today, firefighters from Smithfield, North Logan, Logan and an officer from the Cache County Fire District responded to a working structure fire in Smithfield. Upon arrival, the two-story residential building was fully involved. A second alarm was called, with firefighters from Newton and Richmond responding. Firefighters from Wellsville were also called to help staff one of Logan's fire stations. The building was unoccupied and has been in the process of being remodeled for several years. The building was a total loss. There was also exterior damage to the homes east and west of the fire. There were no injuries. Firefighters battled the blaze for about one and a half hours. A representative from the State Fire Marshal's Office assisted with the investigation, which is continuing.
