Millville Fire Update July 2, 2012 5:00pm

Logan, Utah- July 2, 2012 5:00 pm

The Millville Fire is currently listed as 50% contained and is estimated to be fully contained by 10 pm tonight. The fire has been more accurately mapped with total burned acreage at 109 acres. 
Fire fighting objectives are primarily to keep the fire East of the power lines on the Bonneville Shoreline trail in Millville, North of Millville Canyon and West of Baldy Mountain.
The Millville Canyon road and also 3rd South between 4th and 6th East will remain closed through tomorrow, July 3, 2012 for firefighting efforts.
The fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain. Firefighters are taking suppression actions where it can be done safely and effectively.
At least through tomorrow morning, one helicopter, 2 crews and one engine will continue to work on the fire.
No structures are currently threatened. The fire is burning within an area that burned in 2007.
The Millville Fire began around 4pm on Sunday, July 1, 2012. The fire started from target shooting near the base of Millville Canyon. The fire began on Division of Wildlife Refuge land and has spread into National Forest land, burning on a steep hillside East of Millville, Utah.
