Grass Fire, North Logan

Press Release

For Immediate Release

North Logan, UT - July 16, 2012
At 12:59, units from North Logan were dispatched to a grass fire at 250 West 2500 North. While en-route, the duty officer was informed that fire was moving rapidly, had involved a piece of road construction machinery and was possibly endangering a structure. Based upon that information, additional resources were requested from Logan and Smithfield. With help from a construction site water truck and the additional resources, the grass fire was contained within approximately 20 minutes and involved about 2 acres. The machinery was overhauled within a few more minutes. Units remained on scene until 14:30 to complete mop-up and cold-trailing. Cause of the fire was unintentional, attributed to grinding/hot-work near the dry grass. No injuries were reported.
