Grain Fire

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Amalga, Utah July 23, 2012 Smithfield fire department with automatic aid from Logan, North Logan and the Cache County Fire District, responded to a grain field fire at 1800 West and 5000 North at approximately 2:00 PM. 

The first arriving units reported fire rapidly moving through an uncut grain field. Fire units were able to access the field and quickly contain the fire. The fire burned approximately 14 acres.

The fire was started by a combine cutting grain in a field adjacent to the field that burned. The property damage is estimated at $3500.
