Gas Leak, 100 North 100 West, Logan

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE


Logan, Utah – April 18, 2012 – The Logan Fire and Police Departments responded to a report of a gas line break at 100 North 100 West at approx. noon.  When emergency crews arrived they found gas leaking from a service line which had been severed by a company working with equipment to repair a sewer service line.  Buildings in the close vicinity were evacuated.  Logan Light and Power was called to assist with securing electricity to the buildings in the area and other utilities were secured to eliminate possible sources of ignition.  Fire crews used air monitors to measure the gas in the air.  Five buildings were affected including one building which contained 5 apartments. 

 Within about 45 minutes Questar personnel were able to stop the leak. The buildings were checked and cleared of gas, all utilities where returned to service and occupants were allowed to return.
