Canal Contamination

Lower Hyde Park Irrigation Canal
Damed to Contain Road Base Oil Spill

Logan Ut - It has been confirmed that the contaminated water has traveled a distance of approximately 5 miles. The contaminated water has been diverted to a field near Highway 91and upstream water has been slowed to allow for the spill to contained and clean up to begin.

The contaminant has been determined to be road base oil used as a top coat during a chip and seal project. An environmental clean up company has been contacted and is enroute. The Health Department will oversee the clean up process.

Bear River Health Department,Cache County Fire, Hyde Park Public Works, North Logan Fire, Logan City Fire, and Officials from North Logan and Hyde Park.
