Pisgah Grass Fire

Press Release

For Immediate Release

Wellsville, Utah-March 24- The Wellsville fire department with automatic aid from Hyrum, Paradise, Mendon, Logan, North Logan and the Cache County Fire District responded to a brush fire South of Pisgah Rd in Wellsville. The call came in approx. 12:46 PM.

The first arriving units reported a grass fire that was spreading rapidly. The fire was difficult to contain due to the changing winds. Fire units also faced another difficult challenge, the ground was still wet enough the brush trucks were getting stuck. The fire was contained to about 50 acres.

The cause of the fire was a illegal burn that the land agent lost control of, due to heavy fuel and winds. The Cache County Fire Marshal urges everyone to take necessary precautions during the open burn season this year, due to the heavy vegetation growth we experienced last summer.
