Smithfield, UT -- Shortly after 130 p.m. Thursday, firefighters from Smithfield, North Logan and Logan, as well as officers from the Cache County Fire District, responded to a structure fire between homes at 71 E. 490 North, Smithfield.
Upon arrival, firefighters found an approximately 40 by 40 foot shop building on fire. Smithfield Fire Chief Jay Downs said several neighbors were busy helping to save several items by moving them away from the fire.
The shop, several tools and two four-wheelers were heavily damaged. Fire officials estimated the cost of the damage at $70,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office. It does not appear suspicious.
