Lower Canal Contaminated
Hyde Park and North Logan
(Logan UT) - Around 7pm Saturday night dispatch was contacted about oil in the lower canal in North Logan/Hyde Park area. Teams responded to find and isolate the source of the oil. It was determined that oil from a chip and seal project on 1800 North in North Logan was washed into the canal following today's rain. Units are in process of containing the spill.
If the water is brown or residents are noticing an unusual odor in their irrigation system in the North Logan/Hyde Park irrigation system, they should not water.

North Logan Structure Fire

Structure Fire
North Logan, Utah – July 22, 2013 – The North Logan Fire Department with automatic aid departments responded to a report of a structure fire at 1609 North 1000 East, North Logan. The fire was initially reported to USU Police department by a USU facilitiesemployee at about 3:13 am and then relayed to the 911 dispatch center. 911 also received calls by neighbors reporting the fire.
Upon arrival the fire department found heavy amounts of fire through the roof of a two story home. The home was vacant at the time of the fire. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire with the use of a ladder truck in approx. 30 minutes.
The fire caused extensive damage including the collapse of the roof in part of the structure. Damage is estimated at $175,000.00.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will be conducted Monday morning.
No damage to other structures or injuries was reported.

Logan Structure Fire

Structure Fire
Logan, Utah – July 1, 2013 – Sunday June 30, the Logan Fire Department with
automatic aid departments responded to a report of a structure fire at 52 North
200 East, Logan. The fire was reported
to the 911 dispatch center by one of the occupants of the building at approx.
5:30 pm.
Upon arrival the fire department found heavy amounts of smoke
coming from the building and flames from a side window. The home was occupied by a woman and two
teenage children. All three had escaped the fire unharmed.
The fire department entered the building and controlled the
fire in a matter of a few minutes. The
home was heavily damaged by fire and the family was displaced. Damage is estimated at $150,000.00.
The Red Cross responded to provide housing and assistance to
the family.
The cause of the fire has been determined as accidental. No other damage to structures or injuries was
reported.

forecasted conditions of extremely dry
weather and increasing temperatures the follow restrictions for the use of
fireworks have been ordered. These

DROWNING - North Logan, UT

On Friday June 21, 2013 a two year old male, who was attending a wedding reception with his family, fell into a hot tub located at the Four Seasons Reception Center [140 East 2200 North, North Logan, UT]. It is unknown as to how long he was there before he was discovered. CPR was immediately begun. Paramedics arrived and he was transported to Logan Regional Hospital. Medical efforts failed to resuscitate the two year old.

Hyrum Structure
Fire

IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hyrum, Utah –June 17, 2013-The Hyrum Fire Department with
automatic aid from Wellsville, Paradise and the Cache County Fire District
responded to a working structure fire at 400 South and 175 West in Hyrum.
First arriving fire units found heavy smoke coming from the basement
on the west side of the structure. Fire crews were able to knock down the fire
from the outside of the structure. Additional
crews made entry to the basement and finished extinguishing the fire with no
injuries.
The structure sustained significant damage in the basement.
The fire was caused by an appliance located in the basement. Damages are estimated to be in excessive of 100,000
dollars.
